TOPICAL Green Mountain International developed a polyurethane formula for topical soil solidification. The development of this product was prompted by the need for handicapped accessibility over rough, loose soil surfaces. First conceived as a stabilizer for sand, the product has now evolved into a single component, low viscosity (40 cps), multipurpose stabilizer.
For most topical applications, the materials are simply poured onto the surface of the soil. The equipment necessary may be as simple as a garden watering can or a low pressure-dispensing pump. The liquid is absorbed into the soil, reacts with the available moisture in the soil and cures to a solid. The polyurethane liquid may be viewed as a “glue” or binder. The resin simply binds the soil particles together. The uses of Mountain Grout Soil Stabilizer for topical purposes include secondary containment berms, A.D.A. compliance (access trails, paths), erosion control and hazardous waste containment. All Mountain Grout products are environmentally friendly, contain no VOC’s or solvents. Soil Stabilizer has been tested for TCLP under EPA guidelines. When cured the product is essentially inert and leaches no contaminants into the soil. Because of the many variables in soil content and consistency testing on a small area is recommended before doing an entire project.
